Some solution to protect your images on the internet

Those who describe today are the most common methods that allow us to, in the event of litigation, of resolve the issue related to copyright images.

The International Law (to Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works) states that the artistic rights to the work resulting from the ingenuity and creativity can be attributed to the people who made. Forever. This means that if today I compose a piece of music will always be my, I can decide whether to play it without receiving compensation, but the author is me and to me that specific work must always be attributed. The same mechanism applies to the photograph (on condition that the photo is understood as a’artistic work). (more…)

Photography: some basic principles

When we speak of “photography” not only talking about a vile mechanical process by which the light is captured by a sensor, turned in electrical pulses, salvata su una memory and made available to the vision. Of course we also talk about this, but especially of “composition“, in a sense of “art“.

For the success of a photo should be aware a few simple rules that if applied will give us the advantage of not having to transcend from the original photo in post production. (more…)

Tutorial: golden effect on the water with Gimp

The wave of the tutorials for Gimp today, with a simple process but we'll see how effective “give” of warm colors to any photo with the instrument “Gradient Map“.

The knowledge base for this tutorial are minimal, it is enough to know the use of mode of the layer stacking.

Personally I think are most appropriate for this tutorial with pictures very sharp reflexes, use a photo without reflections is lawful, but the result will surely be different. We will use the following picture from Flickr. (more…)

Tutorial: even out the color in a simple way with Gimp

And after a long absence due to earned vacation I'm back with a tutorial very simple for our program editing fotografico preferred: Gimp.

In this tutorial we will see how level colors of a photo automatically. It can happen often to extract from the album of memories some photos taken a few decades ago, which have now lost most of the color original and are dyed red or blue, or even green. Here are some examples.

In today's tutorial we will apply the’puzzle effect to a photo in a few simple steps using the integrated plug-in in Gimp.

First, choose a nice picture of a beautiful landscape. The following photo is a shot of the castle of Neuschwanstein, in southern Germany. I am the author of the shot, the photo is in the public domain, also for commercial.

Real HDR effect with Qtpfsgui

The software we are talking about today is Qtpfsgui, software for the creation of HDR images.

sometimes incorrectly it tends to be confused with the HDR tone mapping, in fact for HDR (High Dynamic Range) means the overlapping of several photos taken with different exposures to allow for the optimal exposure adjustment zones. To get a photo HDR is really required the resumption of same subject in same shot, each with a different light, This is why the HDR is possible only with still subjects (monuments, case, vegetable, still life, etc.), you can not apply it to moving subjects (people, crowded streets, animals, treni in corsa, etc.). To get the best from Qtpfsgui it is preferable to take pictures from a fixed point, better still if a tripod. (more…)

Some scripts for Gimp

Unfortunately Gimp not is still at the levels of its main competitor closed source. This somewhat’ I regret, and a powder’ pushes me to look for solutions that approach a suitable level. One of the most annoying differences between Gimp and PhotoShop the lack of import / export curves between the two programs. Gimp saves the curves in a format similar to’XML (as far as I know only readable by the Gimp, but standard), while the curves in PhotoShop save format “.asc” (a binary format readable only by PhotoShop and similar). The curves are one indispensable tool for every advanced user, but to this there is a small solution. (more…)
