The command df serves to check the capacity and saturation of the connected devices. The same purpose is that of command duf, with the difference that the output will be formatted in an easily intelligible way by the user.

This program is open source and available for GNU / Linux (sources, but also in precompiled RPM and DEB packages), BSD, MacOS, Windows and Android (file APK).

The program “duf” it is not in the terminal commands and is not in the repositories. To install it on Ubuntu / Debian (or derivatives) you need to download the pre-compiled package and launch the classic installation.

We find the duf deb installer to the project's GitHub page. We launch the download of the latest release and move to the download directory with the terminal. Once we launch them:

~$ sudo dpkg --install duf_0.6.0_linux_386.deb
Selezionato il pacchetto duf non precedentemente selezionato.
(Lettura del database... 186905 file e directory attualmente installati.)
Preparativi per estrarre duf_0.6.0_linux_386.deb...
Estrazione di duf (0.6.0)...
Configurazione di duf (0.6.0)...

As you see duf it has no particular dependencies, installing it is quick and easy.

Once installed you can launch it by typing duf in the terminal.

~$ duf
