This article was published more than a year ago, there may have been developments.
Please take this into account.

Today's article is simple and fast, and solves a question for LibreOffice Calc that I have recently put.

How to set up a Calc document so that every time you open the spreadsheet the date in one cell to automatically update to today's date?

The same operation is very simple with LibreOffice Writer: “Enter” – “Command field” – “Data”. In any reopening the file, the date is updated than today.

Enter the date in Writer

As regards Calc there is not a field command, but if inserted a simple little formula that shows today's date: “= Today()”.

Note the formula inside the bar, and the result within the cell.

It is also possible variant “= Now()”, that will show the date and time. If properly formatted can also show the date only, or only the month, or only the minute.
