Delete the silence at the beginning and end of an audio file with SoX

shell

SoX It is a tool for Editing audio files via the command line in Linux. Some past projects will allow the use through GUI, but they were in time abandoned all and there remained only the command line (not that I mind).

Often the audio file is set to a silent too long beginning or end of the file. HE, as in my case, the files are queued in audio player, or on a CD the wait is nervous. SoX well as do virtually anything with audio files, It allows you to remove the silence in the input and output, returning a file ready to be queued or burn (and often much lighter original).

VeraCrypt: the successor of TrueCrypt

vera_crypt

In 2009 I wrote an article on security. The best that I could find online to encrypt their files was TrueCrypt, at the time was a safe & software. I can not say the same thing seven years later. The development has been arrested in 2014, but good news there. I could recommend a list of software that do the same thing, but I would not do is leave open questions and invite people to spend time (time that I have already spent). For this reason I will not go further and recommend a project fork that has been followed to the present day. It's called VeraCrypt (the latest release to date is dated October 2016).

Proprietary software loves you… how you would like a parasite

zecca_c

Arrival in this reflection after happened on the Adobe website, to sales page Photoshop CC. I take the guise of the slogan of a commercial software to get to talk to the school system. No less than.

In the page footer sales photoshop found a box that reads "We love students & teachers"... and for some reason.

M5S: we need an open source software

logo_m5s_code

With today's article I'm going a bit 'out of the sow, but do not want to open a flame with the subject Movement 5 Location, I just simply observe the facts. I see today that expelled through an online vote, with the 65% majority, Adele Gambaro, a senator of M5S with which I have no ties of any kind. Perhaps not everyone knows that if the Gambaro did not want to resign could continue to occupy the chair that already occupies, although consistency wants you to resign.

My purpose is to be political judgment will not, but only a reflection

Working with Google docs, as if we were working in local

google_docs_logo1

In today's article we see a little hack to access our Google docs as if we were working in local. In practice "'ll mount" the cloud of our documents made available by Google to a local folder. We can browse between the files as locally, rename, move, copy, As if they were on our pc.

The software that will handle the sharing is called "google-docs-fs", a small script in Python with API Fuse, available for Linux and Mac.

Mount a remote device in tunneling “sshfs”

tux

Several articles ago I explained how to mount a remote machine via FTP, so that the PC on which we operate is seen as a directory locale. The program used to establish the connection between the two machines is unpronounceable: "curlftpfs". Today we will do the same thing, but the protocol used will be the 'SSH. We will find a number of similarities with the article previously developed, one in all the impronunciabilità the software used: "sshfs".

How much of the useful software, "sshfs" is directly installed via repository. It will be enough to look inside the graphical tool in use at the distribution.

Sometimes you need to necessarily produce texts, that are the thesis, the pages of a novel o la shopping list, and at any time we run the risk that some Gmail notification, a icon too attractive or simple computer menu manage to distract us from the main job.

Tutorial: stained effect / burned with Gimp

disturbed

The tutorial for today came a little 'by chance and a little' because I was trying another effect to apply to your photo. The final effect will be the staining of the picture (stains confused with burn marks) I think responding to reality, but let you judge users.

First open a photo you might pay at work. We'll turn it in a few easy steps.
