Mount a remote device in tunneling “sshfs”

tux

Several articles ago I explained how to mount a remote machine via FTP, so that the PC on which we operate is seen as a directory locale. The program used to establish the connection between the two machines is unpronounceable: "curlftpfs". Today we will do the same thing, but the protocol used will be the 'SSH. We will find a number of similarities with the article previously developed, one in all the impronunciabilità the software used: "sshfs".

How much of the useful software, "sshfs" is directly installed via repository. It will be enough to look inside the graphical tool in use at the distribution.

We recover deleted files with Foremost

recycle-bin

Perhaps not everyone knows that when you delete files from our devices, they are not deleted, but only "hidden" waiting to be overwritten, and it is precisely for this reason that we believe that the files deleted can be recovered (always if you are not already been overwritten).

Foremost is a program open source a command line to Linux that recovers deleted files. It is of extreme simplicity, present in the repository and performs its job without fuss. As stated in the site, Foremost was originally developed for l '"Air Force Office of Special Investigation" U.S., and for the "center studies and research information security and systems". Subsequently was released the source code and even the general public could benefit from the advantages offered by Foremost.

“Level out” the volume of our MP3 library with MP3Gain

gain

With the brief advice today we talk about music, or rather how to simplify a perennial problem of those who have a wide libreria MP3 in which each track is ripped to a different volume.

How many times has it happened to put our MP3 player playing and having random every time tinkering with the volume because a song "save", and the other does not feel? The solution is, and is called MP3Gain. MP3Gain is a program open source whose sole purpose is leveling (the technical term is correct "normalize") the output volume of an audio file.

Although it is a stable software and regularly updated, “alienshould not be used for the installation of packages important for the system. Puredyne: A distribution for artists, by artists

I learned very little from a new distribution GNU / Linux live fully open source, basata su Ubuntu 9.10 and DebianLive completely oriented artistic production. Puredyne.

In recent years many projects "for multimedia"Based on GNU/Linux (to name a few among the best known: 64studio, UbuntuStudio), all with same characteristics. I would not want this project also became a huge Calderone in which thread each multimedia project, from 'image editor, to DAW, all’editor video. If it was that would lose much of its usefulness.

Soon a detailed review as it is tested, for now only a promising project, another promising project.
