Tutorial: blur “fogging lenses” with Gimp

modified

Today's tutorial can be very useful for example for photo books of marriages, it is a very soft blur, the effect is usually also used within the film to create l 'effect "flashback" Full of memories not.

We open a nice picture on which we are going to operate. I suggest a picture with subjects and background. In this tutorial I will use a photo that does not fit perfectly effect, however, the result is good.

Duplicate the layer with the tool in levels and tab apply the filter "Softglow" ("Filters" - "Artistic" - "Softglow") the top layer with the following options.

We reduce the 60% the opacity of the selected layer.

Now select the tool "Rubber" and remove everything that we want to leave as in the original photo. In this case remove only the glow covering the faces. Then, selecting the lower level'll adjust levels image ("Colors" - "Levels") selecting "Auto".

Here's the final result.

As I said a few lines ago, the effect is very noticeable in the presence of a good lighting, with the ample white space within the image. In cases like this to become white is especially the skin of the subjects.
